Broan creates the residential ventilation market with the first vent fan in Milwaukee, WI.

1936

NuTone invents the first electric door chime.

1954

Broan relocates to Hartford, Wisconsin.

1955

Broan becomes a founding member of the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI), helping set industry standards.

1956

Broan produces its first range hoods.

1978

Venmar Ventilation is founded and pioneers mechanical ventilators, including the Econair 100 and Econair 25.

1980

vänEE engineers the first air exchanger in North America, including the high-performance R200 HRV.

1987

President Ronald Reagan visits the Broan facility in Hartford to highlight American manufacturing.

1995

Venmar and vänEE join forces under Nortek.

1998

NuTone is acquired and integrated into the ventilation family.

1999

Venmar earns ISO 9001 certification for quality management.

2000
